Darrell Clanton (b. Darrell Puckett in Indianapolis, August 10, 1956) — Singer, songwriter, and guitarist. The Indianapolis-born country artist Darrell Clanton was raised in South Pasadena, Florida. After playing with a number of local bands, he moved to Nashville at age 22. After receiving an encouraging response to a demo recording he sent to Justin Tubb (the son of Ernest Tubb), he landed a contract with Warner Brothers, who asked him to change his last name to Clanton after the town in Alabama. In the early to mid ’80s, he charted three singles; the most successful was a cover of “Lonesome 7-7203,” written by Justin Tubb and originally recorded by Hawkshaw Hawkins. His song made it to #24 on Billboard Country chart, and Clanton was nominated by CMA as “New Male Vocalist of the Year” in 1984. In the same year, he performed at the Grand Ole Opry on three occasions. Nonetheless, his single “I Forgot That I don’t Live Here Anymore” in 1985 got him in some hot water with MADD, and his progress came to a halt. After moving back to Florida in 2003, he completed his first full album Someplace Sunny in 2005. In the last couple decades, he has been active performing in the Tampa Bay area.

In 1984, Clanton was nominated for Top New Male Vocalist at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
