Joe Downing is a Tropical Rock with a Country Soul recording artist and songwriter based in St. Augustine, Florida. Blending Salt Life Sound, a YOLO vibe, and sun-drenched storytelling, Joe creates music that feels like a beach day for your soul. His songs tap into good times, warm breezes, and the moments that remind us why life is worth living.

Joe’s first two full-length albums — Songs From The Gulf (2020) and The Bright Side (2022) — deliver laid-back beach vibes and feel-good rhymes that have won over fans across the country. Both albums were nominated for Album of the Year by the Trop Rock Music Association, cementing Joe as one of the genre’s rising voices.

Since 2017, Joe has performed as a touring solo artist across 12 states, bringing his signature tropical-country sound to regional events, festivals, and house concerts. In 2021 he formed The Joe Downing Band, expanding his live show into a high-energy, full-band experience. Together, they’ve taken stages at major events including Music on the Bay (Tampa, 2023–2024), Riddles in the Sand (Galveston, 2023), Compass by Margaritaville (Anna Maria Sound), A1A Beach Bash (Amelia Island, 2024–2025), and Meeting of the Minds (Gulf Shores, 2024–2025).

Joe’s singles “YOLO” and “Sand In My Soul” earned Single of the Year nominations from the TRMA, and his genuine, heart-forward connection with fans earned him a nomination for the TRMA Horizon Award.

Born and raised in Ohio, Joe grew up on a musical diet of Motown, classic rock, modern pop, and coastal influences. He believes that great art inspires great art, and his inspiration board ranges from Brian Wilson & The Beach Boys to Kenny Chesney, Tom Petty, Grateful Dead, Jimmy Buffett, Bob Marley, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack Johnson, and beyond.
