‘Islandology’ Concert: John McDonald

Grab your favorite tropical cocktail and enjoy JOHN McDONALD’S ‘ISLANDOLOGY’ CONCERT! BREVARD LIVE MAGAZINE reviewer Rob Pederick states, ‘Islandology is not my hard rocker/blues rock/prog rock kinda thing but absolutely love this.’ The performance was filmed at the Crowne Plaza Melbourne Beach on Florida’s Atlantic side, when a couple of songwriters, passionate music lovers, kick-ass musicians and warm, subtropical, Floribbean breezes all came together for a few magical hours… Backed by a great 7-piece band with support from JOE DOWNING and BETH TRAVERS, McDonald brings his Islandology album to life with a driving rhythm section led by his long-time bandmate ‘Polish Hammer’ KEVIN KORNICKI and four accomplished instrumentalists, featuring virtuoso guitarist ‘Mango Man’ DALE CINSKI. John and his band also creatively ‘TROPIFIED’ some classic rock gems by Ozzy Osbourne and Led Zeppelin. With the help of an enthusiastic audience, they created a dynamic performance highlighting the key elements that make TROP ROCK a fun, distinctive genre: escapist lyrical themes, steel drums, copious percussion, calypso, reggae and island rhythms with crashing waves hitting the surf as a back drop. Opener Joe Downing set the perfect tone, finishing his set to a standing ovation for his TRMA Nominated Song of the Year ‘YOLO’ (You Only Live Once). Emcee DAVE FREEMAN handles the introductions and MARIA SANAET interviews audience members, capturing the free-spirited, party mood of JOHN McDONALD’S CD RELEASE CONCERT. John McDonald’s album ‘ISLANDOLOGY’ generated nine TRMA Trop Rock Music Assoc. Nominations: Album, Song (Rooftop Island), Single (She Only Came For the Bongos), Album Art Work, Music Video (Trop Rock Queen), Horizen, Songwriter and Entertainer of the Year, along with Musician of the Year for his band mate, multi-instrumentalist Dale Cinski.
